2 halves make a whole !

Writer's picture: Becca HughesBecca Hughes

hello! if you reading this are anywhere from about 16 to 50ish you've probably, at some point, come across a lovely shiny, plastic-y, probably pink, friendship necklace or bracelet where each necklace has half a charm and the two fit together to make a whole, whether a heart, a circle, or some other shape...

It's giving very much 90s/2000s and we love it and we love to hate it - don't get me wrong I would so still wear one of these, maybe share one with my dog.. BUT wouldn't it be nicer if we could maybe go a little subtler, a little more sentimental, more natural colours, and nice high quality recycled sterling silver? Well, let me introduce to you the, '2 halves make a whole necklace'!

I have made a few commissions like this before, some people have a big chunky piece of seaglass that is special to them and they want it made into 2 or even 5 different necklaces! Sometimes the pieces are SO big that its a matter of using a suuuper technical method of a 'controlled smash' to break up the pieces and then smooth them down. More recently though I've been breaking the pieces into two of three to make even(ish) pieces and use all the seaglass rather than being left with some shards that are unusable.

This is something I can do with a piece of seaglass you have and that is special to you or you can choose from my seaglass selection, still just as special because you'll be going away with two necklaces made from the same piece of seaglass !
